Illinois State Crime Stoppers Association Information

President's Letter

Illinois Crime Stoppers President, William Nation

Hello fellow Crime Stoppers and visitors. For those who were unable to attend, you missed a very good ISCSA Annual Training Conference this year in Champaign. The Champaign County Crime Stoppers program, especially the conference committee, did an outstanding job. The speaker lineup was just fantastic, a whole lot of good information in such a short period of time. THE "I Hotel" was a very nice place to have the conference and the food was great. We had lots and lots of door prizes, 50/50 drawings, and a huge silent auction. But of course, the best part of the conference is meeting old and new friends and sharing information with fellow Crime Stoppers from around the state.

This year 2010 is the year for Illinois Crime Stoppers programs to renew State Certification. Jay Sauer is chairman of the certification committee and has worked very hard getting the information out to programs. If your program is not certified or has not been recertified, please contact Jay, his contact information is on this web site.

Our web site has had some improvements. We have added our Board of Directors contact information to be better available to local programs. Also it is now possible to submit on line tips on our web site. This is especially good for those areas in our state that are not represented by a Crime Stoppers program. Tips submitted on the web site will be forwarded to the program representing the area in question, and if that area is not represented by a Crime Stoppers program the information will be forwarded to the proper law enforcement agency. Our web site does not give out code numbers or offer rewards. That must be done through local Crime Stoppers programs. The site contains a huge amount of information including the State Association's mission and purpose, bylaws, history, accumulated state wide statistics, and much more. It also lists all Crime Stoppers programs within the state, their web site, if they have one, and whether or not they are a State Certified program. Our website is designed with different access areas so that local participating programs can submit their stats and update their local board information on line. Please browse our web site and those of other programs listed. Also feel free to contact the State Association or other programs with questions comments or information so that we can benefit from each other’s experience and knowledge.

The ISCSA is always on the lookout for new members to serve on our Board of Directors, both civilian and law enforcement. Please contact me or any Board member for information and applications. Also the ISCSA does not have any dues structure. We rely on donations from local programs and individuals. Donations can be sent to the address on our home page and are greatly appreciated. For all you Crime Stoppers volunteers, thanks for all you do for your programs and your communities. Have a great year.
